Crossfit and the advantages of being Crossfit

We have a big race coming up this weekend. Therefore, we will need to do our own bit of high-intensity exercise, that are constantly varied high-intensity functional movement. There seems to be some misconceptions about what crossFit is and what it isn't. CrossFit is incorporating everyday movements and making the ability to do them easier better stronger and faster. For instance snatch, picking up a 50 pound bag of dog food CrossFit gives you the ability to look it over your head not that you would but you could if you needed to put it on an overhead shelf. Each one of these exercises concentrate on functional movement and keeping your movements with an alignment of your natural body. Unlike runners or bicyclists or weight lifters we don't train to be good at one certain thing(please do not get me wrong, I believe all of these exercises aregreat in their own respect ans takes training to do all of them! :)). We trying to be good at all of them, and fit. I have been going for 3 weeks and I can tell a difference in my core, my legs, and my upper body strength. When doing CrossFit as with any exercise regimen it's important to eat right and have a close to nature diet as possible. I will start including some pictures of food that I prepare and some pictures from the CrossFit gym that we go to just for fun. C.

Racing season is cranking up again!

It has been a long time since I have tasted. But for good reason, holidays change in semesters New Year's resolutions blah blah blah...
We have a leak in our r_v that we cannot find. We have taken it to an r_v services place had it pressurized and it is still leaking we don't know where this leak is.
Its leaking somewhere from the front of the RV to the front window it's weird because my husband has gone over it with a fine tooth comb has sealed everything that we could find on the top of the RV and the RV services place sealed everywhere if they found a leak but they said they didn't.
When going back to the racetrack on the weekends we will not have such a stringent schedule this year as we did last year it was just too much with school and our schedule. I am now in clinicals and at the hospital twice a week for my school I also quit my job December the 27th to be able to attend school full time. Money will be tight but we will make do with what we have and enjoy life in the process.
Right now in Virginia it is a balmy 11 degrees outside. We have snow on the ground and it is beginning of March. We are supposed to have a big race in 2 weeks. If this snow and ice and rain does not clear between now and then I don't see how that's going to happen.
We'll see. I will keep this is updated as much as I can and post some pictures. As for now the husband and I have started to do CrossFit and we get our butts handed to us about 3 times a week. That will be something that we can incorporate in the mornings at the track instead of my leisurely Run and running up and down the bleachers we are now trained to do some kick butt exercises. That will definitely get the day started. I'll post pictures of that as well. C.

School is my excuse....Happy Pre Thanksgiving Race!!!

It has been a while but school and work are to blame. Today we have a pre Thanksgiving race. And we will also have a pre Thanksgiving dinner for the racers and this is my first time using the convection oven and I am cooking a sweet potato casserole. So this is an adventure for me today.  I have a few more weeks to go in school January will be here very soon and I will be going to clinicals in the hospital setting. For anybody thinking about going into respiratory therapy do not take that decision lightly this is very hard. Not everybody that signed up and started this program will be going to clinicals. I hope we don't lose any more people especially myself. So I bring my books with me to the track and I study in between rounds. This weekend I'm going to focus on making my flash card so that I can quiz myself and my husband can help with me as well. I guess that's it but I'm going to attach a picture of my convection oven cooking casserole covered in Reynolds Wrap but you get the idea.

Sorry its been a while, School started back......

school has started back.....full swing in Respiratory school and I am working on becoming SCUBA certified as well. During the summer Phlebotomy clinicals were at the VA hospital and went by very quickly. I still have yet to take my test, the program head for some reason doesn't put the students first and has been dragging her feet as far as making sure we have our letters needed to take the test.

We are at the track this weekend for a Raiders Race and I have set up a nice little area for the vacation station. So in between racing i have been studying so many tests and hands on testing for these classes. I like it. Hubby has been doing really well in racing, hopefully he will take home a championship this year :)

Whats for breakfast?

I posted that we have been cleaning up our food, this is my typical breakfast.
Note: I use organic coconut oil for my healthy fats and cooking.

Too hot....

It has been so hot lately, that I haven't taken my camera or my video camera to document the events that have happened at the racetrack. I have been in two ladies challenge since the first one semi final and 1 and running up in another.
The days when it's beautiful enough for the guys to race has been ridiculously hot. its not comfortable for anybody even with the fan going it just makes for a miserable day. Seems like from that you get up in the morning you're like a robot just walking around and doing what you're supposed to do to get day done to make sure that my husband drives as safe as accurate as possible.
This coming weekend is my birthday and it marks in age from me that is all most difficult for me to accept.
I have thought about it and decided that I need to get my butt in gear and start eating correctly from my health if I haven't ruined it already. So my husband and I have been walking every other day at least two miles or more. we have been choosing the right things to eat and so far he has lost 10 pounds and I've lost 6 & a half. We both have many more to lose but instead of just losing weight we are going to start building muscle gaining endurance and getting healthy at the same time. This was a challenge this weekend in the RV. we had to make sure that when we took food it wasn't just your normal slap on the grill and hurry up and eat it and go food.
I took cut peppers and fruit for when I was feeling snacky. he mixed up a big huge bowl of tuna fish.
And for our first night of dinner we had a recipe cold Chipotle bacon chicken. which I was able to make in the crock pot. I got the recipe of a website called paleopot.com. I have eliminated grain pasta flower rice and processed food from our diet. so its not that easy when you go to the drag strip and the concession stand has nothing but processed fried and marinated in whatever they can find food.
My ultimate goal is to be healthy and feel beautiful and feel comfortable in comfortable clothes and not has to worry about what blubber is showing beneath the clothes when I walk when we go to Punta Cana Dominican Republic next year. we have saved up for a number of years a little bit each month and we finally got enough or we can go pamper ourselves on the beautiful white sand beaches of Punta Cana. we have been there before so we already know we love it. More on that later.
hubby made it down to six cars yesterday and as we were packing up to leave it started to rain. and it brought in some wonderful cool air. so on the way home we open the windows in the RV and it felt beautiful.

After a very scary ride home.....

The picture is of the lights you use as a guide going over Afton mountain when a very dense fog sets in. They are orange and help you get down the mountain safely. Hubs slowed way down, and all I could see was white fog, so dense 5 feet in front of the coach was a sheet of white..... like a ghost had swallowed us. I was very concerned, but hubs took it slow and we made it through.
I Dont think it would have been so bad had if we didn't have a 35 foot trailer behind our rig. So super slow was the only way to go. The person we were traveling with said he was a nervous wreck while he was driving through there, but made it safely as well. As soon as some pics are posted of the race I will post them, but for now I am unpacking washing clothes and re stocking for our next adventure :).

Test and Tune Wednesday Bristol

we set up camp wednesday night and thursday i had the front of the motorhome all decked out with lantern light along the front, and someone told hubby that there was a weather cell coming through so we clipped the zip ties took down my lanterns........no storm, no nothing.
So Today after a wonderful Red light by hubbs, losing 1st round, I have retired to the coach and am marinading chicken, and chilling in the air conditioning. we have had fun so far and I will hang onto the "fun" parts of this. Drag racing is not for every one, but hubs loves it and I love some parts of it, it would be better if I were racing though...lol.

The next night (Sunday) Hubby WON!!!!

He told me over dinner with some friends,
"I couldn't let you show me up"
every body laughed we had a very fun weekend.
The RV was fine, and we found out where a small water leak was coming from....the ice maker. So hubs tightened that up and we shall see in the future if it leaks again :)

Racing is so much fun! I was runner up!

Coffee in the morning is the best part of RV 'ing I think.

To sum up lastnight, I had the most fun I've had in a long time!
Hubby tried his best but just couldn't hit the sweet spot with his car. He was there for me last night and he was the best teacher! Check out the trophy!

Another great weekend at the track, but this weekend ...I'M racing!

Usually when we go to the track my husband is the racer, but this weekend, it's my turn to play.....
I will race my car. It's all stock - a 2012 Chevy Cruze.
My best friend said she would come out and take pics of me while going down the track. I will post those  this weekend.
We plan on taking the RV and my fur babies :)
This weaken end will be pretty relaxed only one day in the vacation station. The previous weekend we learned a valuable lesson....well a couple.
1. Dump the gray water before you go
2. Turn off the power to the chassis when you have the generator running so it preserves the starting power and charges the accessory batteries.
We found ourselves with an RV that wouldn't start b/c we left the chassis power on. Luckily we have some great people who race with us that are keen on the workings of RV/motorhomes :)
Here are some pics of the race cars....

The top one is Hubby's Dragster - Yes that's me just driving it around :)

This is my car I will be racing this weekend.

I have 3 weeks before I start gearing up for my clinicals in phlebotomy.....Then i will probably start a new job. I have a lot of things going on this summer :) So getting our and enjoying the RV is a priority.

At the track in the Vacation Station!

Its empty now but in a few hours this place will be crawling with alcohol fueled cars and hungry competotors, waiting for their chance at the 1320.
It is a brisk day i would estimate the temp to be about 40 the expected high today is 56-60 so it will be nice and cool and clear blue skies.
My husband went a few rounds yesterday. Hopefully today will be better. He's driving someone else's car and not his own as he is experiencing motor problems. But it should be back together pretty soon we hope. The vacation station is operating at peak performance. I just finished cleaning up from scrambled eggs and sausages that were made by my husband.
Yesterday was a hard day for the dogs I had to leave the track and take them to go to the vet they had their yearly physicals and had to get blood drawn and my little girl Yorkshire terrier Dolly had to have a shot. So she's pretty stiff this morning. Just to be clear we are at Richmond Dragway www
Richmonddragway.com for the Collision1- 10 K Grand Slam.
